GENESIS

The School of Health Sciences commenced in 2003 to offer several health related distance learning programmes. Having the advantage of distance education, flexibility in learning the programmes could be availed by learners across the State.

The School has been responding to the developmental needs of the society by offering need-based paramedical and vocational programmes to the larger segments of population, and in particular to the disadvantaged groups such as those living in remote and rural areas including working people, homemakers and other adults who wish to acquire or upgrade their knowledge through studies in various fields.

VISION

‘Health For All’ is the vision with which the school has been started. This is not a static point to reach but a continually evolving and situation-specific need in different sections of the society.

The School has the vision of generating suitable programmes for an alternative healthcare scenario that will foster equity and humanity in healthcare, providing space for a pluralistic healthcare system.

It will primarily support programmes that have the potential to reach all the people – men, women and children, workers and farmers, traditional and new healthcare providers, the literate as well as non-literate, and the disability groups.

MISSION

Helping Primary Health Care initiatives through Open and Distance Learning by creating and enhancing capabilities in the private and public health sector.
